During our last meeting in Brussels in May 2007, 3 new candidates have been accepted as new member. We welcome a new Polish databank as C member : The International Animal Identification Database that is represented by Bartosz Mackiewicz. The French Organisation for cats and ferrets (SIEV) has eventually joined us as A member. Christophe Buhot is our contact. And finally, ESAVA from Estonia was accepted as B member. Valdeko Paavel represents this databank.
Sweden accepted as new member (02/01/2007)
During our last meeting in Prague in October, the General Assembly decided unanimously to accept Sweden as new member. Helena Skarp represents this Swedish database called "Svenska Kennel Klubben".
Next meeting in PRAGUE (04/10/2006)
Our next bi-annual meeting will take place in Prague during the FECAVA congress. Our kind Czech representative, Jiri Potucek, is ready to welcome all members in Residence Trinidad.
New Irish member (03/05/2006)
We welcome a third Irish member. The organisation was presented during our last meeting in Brussels. Its objectives are : registering pedigree puppies, establishing ownership, health programmes, animal welfare and responsible dog ownership. In January this year compulsory microchipping was introduced for all pedigree puppies wishing to be registered with the Irish Kennel Club and to this end a lost and found service has been launched. Sean Delmar is our contact.
Next meeting in Brussels again (05/12/2005)
As the second Europetnet meeting of 2006 will take place in Pragua during the FECAVA meeting next year (October 2006), we have decided to keep Brussels as meeting place on 8 April 2006. We try actually to have one meeting per year in Brussels.
Dublin SPCA (Ireland), new member (25/11/2005)
The Dublin SPCA also known as the Dogs & Cats Home, is 165 years old, it is the oldest and largest welfare group in Ireland, about 2,500 dogs and cats a year are rehomed, the organisation looks after about 15,000 animals every year including all the wildlife in Dublin. Pet Trace was acquired some two years ago to supplement the service that we provide, and to ensure that any rehomed animal was not abandoned some time later, so it was important to microchip every animal leaving the Shelter and to have access to a database that worked 24 hours 7 days. "We have invested time and money ensuring that Pet Trace is a leader in databases, and we are particularly delighted that we have become a member of Europetnet".
www.fido.ie (Ireland), new member (17/11/2005)
www.fido.ie is the first web-based database for the storage of information for the purposes of re-unification of lost companion animals in the Republic of Ireland. Many species are now registered with www.fido.ie including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, snakes and several species of birds. While there is little compulsory microchipping carried out in the Republic of Ireland, the growth of the concept of permanent identification has been quite dramatic over the last year and with registration of pedigree pups due to become a condition of pedigree registration on the 1st January 2006, more and more animals will be identified. Currently the Irish Government is considering introduction of compulsory microchipping in other areas too. Mr. Finbarr Heslin, MVB, MRCVS will be our contact with Europetnet.
Hungary, a new member (25/10/2005)
We are pleased to welcome Hungary among our members. The "Hungarian Veterinary Chamber" gathers information in its database about cats and dogs. HVC is recognized by the Hungarian authorities to distribute passports and has already issued more than 50.000 of them. Central registration for pets is mandatory in Hungary only for the passports but HVC is trying to convince the government to make it mandatory for all microchipped dogs and cats in Hungary. The secretary general of the association, Mister Zsolt Pintér, will be our contact and will be present at our next meeting in Brussels.
Next meeting in Brussels (10/10/2005)
As usual, Europetnet's members gather twice a year to discuss big projects, to vote for new members, to approve budgets, to talk about association's regulation, … Our next meeting will take place in Brussels, on Saturday, 12th November 2005.
Europetnet new website (14/09/2005)
Europetnet team is pleased to present you its new website. What's new? You have now a permanent and faster access to the search tool thanks to the fixed left-hand column. The search tool efficiency is also improved. Now, when an identification number is entered in the box on the left, the search is also carried out in our connected members databases. Therefore, you get 2 result types. The first one comes from Europetnet consolidated database, well-known for its rapiditiy and its efficiency. The second one comes from our connected members databases for the potential last updates. The "news" column is also completely new and will allow you to be aware of everything concerning animal welfare!! Generally speaking, this website is technically more efficient, allowing better interaction and regular new contents.
